Megan is convinced that being a registered massage therapist is the best job ever, and believes that doing what you love is the greatest gift that you can give to the world.
Megan was born and raised on Vancouver Island and feels blessed to still call it home! She is a 2012 graduate of the West Coast College of Massage Therapy’s 3,000-hour RMT program and remains a member in good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia. Megan has a special interest in the treatment of athletic injuries, soft tissue damage from motor vehicle accidents, TMJ dysfunction, tension headaches, low-back pain, repetitive strain injuries, as well as perinatal care.
Her intention is to meet each person as they are, and to treat them in a way that honours and acknowledges the intelligence of the body. Most of the time, this means incorporating trigger point therapy, muscle energy techniques, joint mobilizations, myofascial release and facilitated stretching into her practice. Megan hopes that you leave each session with a solid understanding of what’s going on, why it’s happening and what you can do to prevent it in the future.
Megan has travelled internationally to seek out what she believes to be best possible continuing education courses and integrates them into her treatments. A few of her favourite training courses include: muscle energy, intra-oral work for temporomandibular joint dysfunction, yoga therapy for spinal health, pregnancy, labour, birth & postpartum, post cesarean scar treatment and infant massage. In addition to her lifelong commitment to learning, Megan teaches at the massage therapy college in Victoria, supervising at the student intern clinic and enthusiastically sharing her knowledge and passion for the profession. She also travelled to India to complete her 200-hour yoga teacher training and continued her studies in restorative yoga, yin yoga, as well as meditation. She strongly believes in the integration of other therapies, such as physiotherapy, acupuncture and chiropractic care for optimal results and doesn't hesitate to refer out to other practitioners within the community. She’s very enthusiastic about self care and believes it’s necessary in becoming the most vibrant version of yourself. Megan is grateful for the opportunity to share her knowledge with the community and looks forward to being a part of your health care plan.
Outside of the treatment room, Megan can be found flowing on her yoga mat, searching for Victoria’s best soy chai, running along Dallas road, petting other peoples dogs or googling ways to keep her house plants alive.
